The Los Angeles Lakers made a handful of moves on the first day of NBA free agency Friday. They retained Rui Hachimura and agreed to contract terms with three solid free agents in Gabe Vincent, Cam Reddish and Taurean Prince, but unfortunately lost Dennis Schroder.
Lakers are also reportedly offering Austin Reaves a four-year, $52 million deal. The undrafted guard made a name for himself these past couple of seasons and could receive better offers elsewhere.
Hachimura, 25, will sign a three-year, $51 million deal to continue playing the Purple & Gold, according to ESPN. Schroder, meanwhile, agreed to join the Toronto Raptors on a two-year, $26 million contract.
Vincent, 27, reportedly declined a four-year, $34 million extension by the Miami Heat to accept a three-year, $33 million deal to play alongside LeBron James.
Prince, 29, agreed to a one-year, $4.5 million deal and Reddish, 23, will join the franchise on a two-year deal.
Lakers to make more key moves
Lakers are also reportedly interested in acquiring unrestricted free agent center Brook Lopez, who has become one of the best players at his position over the past few seasons with the Milwaukee Bucks.
Lopez, 35, already played for the Lakers in 2018 when the franchise was still in rebuild mode and could be a key piece for the team’s championship aspirations.
He is a solid three-point shooter that will stretch the floor offensively and be a lockdown paint defender.
The news of all the Lakers moves in the first 24 hours of the NBA free agency come one day after they waived Malik Beasley and Mo Bamba.
