The oldest and most widely regarded tennis tournament in the world, Wimbledon Championships, known simply as Wimbledon, is all set to commence its 2023 edition on July 3 and will run until July 16, 2023.

The prestigious event, the only championship currently held on grass, the customary court for tennis, has regularly been hosted at the All England Club in Wimbledon, London, since 1877. Additionally, since 2019, the two main courts have also been covered by retractable roofs.

Over the generations, we’ve witnessed iconic rivalries, triumphant feats and heroic defeats.

But while the names may change, the drama remains.

New storylines await us, and #Wimbledon will once again be Always Like Never Before ✨

Moreover, it is the only Grand Slam that still enforces a curfew at night, despite the fact that matches can now go until 11 p.m. under lights. Wimbledon will once again have a 128-player singles draw and a 64-team doubles draw for its 136th edition this year.

The Slazenger Wimbledon ball is used to play the Championships on outdoor grass. Along with this, every court will also have an electronic queue calling. A best-of-three set format will be used for all matches. Six games to a tie will result in a 10-point final set tiebreak.

Novak Djokovic secured his seventh Wimbledon title in 2022 after defeating Australian Nick Kyrgios in the championship match. The Serbian captured his fourth consecutive Wimbledon title.

On the other side, Elena Rybakina shocked the tennis world by winning her first grand slam trophy in 2022 after upsetting Ons Jabeur in the final. The Tunisian tennis player overcame the latter in less than two hours to triumph 3-6, 6-2, 6-2.

Where to watch:

Tennis fans can enjoy the broadcast of the event on Disney Star‘s top sports network, Star Sports. Along with this, all games of the prestigious event will also be streamed online on Disney+ Hotstar, the channel’s OTT platform.
