Afrobeats star Ayra Starr and veteran Nollywood actor Richard Mofe-Damijo (RMD) have joined the cast of the upcoming film adaptation of Tomi Adeyemi’s bestselling fantasy novel, Children of Blood and Bone. The cast also includes Pamilerin Ayodeji, Shamz Garuba, and WNBA player Temi Fagbenle. South African actress Thuso Mbedu will star as Zélie, the protagonist, with Tosin Cole, Amandla Stenberg, Damson Idris, and Chiwetel Ejiofor playing key roles. The ensemble also boasts Viola Davis, Idris Elba, Cynthia Erivo, Lashana Lynch, and Regina King. Directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood, the film is set for a tentative 2027 release, with the director calling it a celebration of the African diaspora’s magic.
