At least 95 people were arrested in Zimbabwe for participating in anti-government protests demanding President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s resignation. The protests, led by war veterans once loyal to Mnangagwa, were sparked by plans from the ruling ZANU-PF to extend his term until 2030. Despite a heavy police presence, around 200 people gathered in Harare, chanting slogans like “Enough is enough” and “Mnangagwa must go.” Authorities accused the group of promoting violence, citing road barricades and stone-throwing. While protesters were few, shops and schools closed in what appeared to be a widespread stay-away protest. War veteran leader Blessed Geza, who led calls for the demonstrations, thanked his supporters and pledged more events to challenge Mnangagwa’s rule.
