Xbox Game Camp Africa Returns for 2025
Xbox has announced that Game Camp Africa will return for its third year. The program continues to support and uplift game developers across the continent.
In partnership with ID@Xbox’s Developer Acceleration Program (DAP), this year’s camp will run for 12 weeks. Pre-selected studios will move from game ideas to working prototypes with guidance from Xbox mentors.
Since its launch, Game Camp Africa has trained more than 1,900 creators. One success story is Kenyan studio Kunta Content. Their debut game, Hiru, was born out of the first two camps.
Recently, they released a trailer showcasing diverse environments and the team’s progress under Xbox mentorship.

“We are beyond excited to finally share a glimpse of the world of Hiru,” said Dean Gichukie, CEO & Game Producer at Kunta Content. “We are bringing Africa to life in a way never seen before. The trailer reflects our team’s passion and the support we received from Xbox. It allowed us to showcase the beauty of the Masai Mara, the mysteries of the Congo, and the starkness of the desert.”
The 2025 edition will officially kick off on December 4 in Cape Town, South Africa, during Africa Games Week. For more information on the program and its history, visit the Microsoft Game Dev Blog.
