I stopped by the WWE tryout in Detroit this week, where wrestler Grayson Waller evaluated promos by the participants. Waller has been calling out The Rock in recent weeks on both social media and on WWE TV, so I asked him about it.
“I just put out a little video being at WWE headquarters,” Waller said. “There’s always fun gear laying around. I saw his (debut) Madison Square Garden gear and put out a little video, (but) didn’t tag him in it. It shows the Grayson Waller effect that he still found it and wanted to shoot back — and I think he missed, to be honest. He had an opportunity to put me in his place, and I don’t think he did.
“I have fun poking bears. I have no problem poking the biggest bear that exists. When it comes to the WWE, there’s no bigger bear than The Rock, so I’m having some fun.”
Does Waller think The Rock could show up to poke back?
“I don’t think so,” he replied (partly in character). “I don’t think he’s ready for that. The Rock is probably the best talker of all time in WWE, but that was then, and this is now. I’m ready to take that throne.”
