The digital asset market has certainly struggled throughout the first three months of the year. Although the industry is set to see a continued policy shift, prices have failed to reflect this. That doesn’t change that some assets are facing surging potential, including Solana (SOL), which may be the best crypto to buy in 2025, emerging ahead of Ethereum.

ETH has long been the second-largest cryptocurrency by market cap. However, the industry’s rapid growth and progression have placed this fact into question. Specifically, the rise of Solana has many wondering if the network’s supremacy will continue into the asset’s prices.

Solana to Emerge Ahead of Ethereum This Year?

Entering 2025, Solana was viewed as one of the most promising crypto investments in the industry. Indeed, SOL even saw some project the asset to reach a price of $700 over the next five years. That increased ceiling has led many to believe it could be one of the most impressive performances this year.

Solana has entered the conversation as the best crypto to buy in 2025, with SOL emerging over long-time competitors like Ethereum (ETH). The asset ended the week reversing a 30% drop over the last 30 days, according to CoinMarketCap. Specifically, it jumped 6% on Friday, hitting $132.

With its current trajectory, Solana may be poised to second only Bitcoin as far as the most prominent cryptocurrency. Specifically, its network has seen a new user growth surge, as well as transaction activity and blockchain stability. On the other end, Ethereum has struggled in nearly all of those areas.

Additionally, SOL has grown rapidly over the last two years. Although the price is still down 21% on the year, it has so much potential to change that. It currently only trails Ethereum as in DeFi. Moreover, it has maintained a position as the better long-term crypto buy.

Cryptocurrency price prediction platform CoinCodex currently projects SOL to reach a high of $147 in March. Tat would be up 11% from its current position. However, it has forecasted the asset to reach a $313 2025 high, up 136% from where it stands now. Moreover, that would project a new all-time high for the token this year.
