There is no shortage of geopolitical concerns abounding the world right now. Indeed, the stock market is often one of the biggest affected by these developments that could shift where it is best for investors to put their funds. However, those situations have been great for Chevron (CVX), as the energy stock is leading a Dow Jones rebound.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average saw an increase take place early Tuesday. Specifically, the energy stock and Nvidia (NVDA) led the way for the index to jump 111 points, a 0.3% increase. The AI chipmaker had seen gains of 1.44%, while Chevron has dominated with a 2.39% increase amid a strong emerging outlook.

Chevron a Winner Tuesday as Energy Stocks Could Soon Get a Boost

There has been no shortage of reasons for the stock market to stumble in recent weeks. The AI demand that saw companies soar in value was halted with the arrival of Chinese startup DeepSeek. Thereafter, the market reacted to US President Donald Trump enacting economic policy that could hinder a lot of companies.

Now, Wall Street is course correcting to the benefit of some of the biggest companies in the world. Among them is Chevron (CVX), which is leading a Dow Jones bounce back Tuesday as the energy stock is up more than 2.39%. The situation is a signifier of energy sector confidence from investors, but also the strong economic data supporting the stock.

In 2024, Chevron quietly had a record-breaking year. The company had strong free cash flow. Moreover, they used that to send $27 billion to their investors. That is not set to end this year. Indeed, the company is expected to be in a similar position in 2025 and beyond.

Additionally, its recent increase is likely connected to the aforementioned geopolitical tensions. The Trump administration is reportedly preparing to put “maximum pressure on Iran,” a Benzinga report states. The move saw oil jump above $27, with a host of energy stocks increasing.

Chevron was one of the biggest beneficiaries of Trump’s imposing new sanctions on Iran. That only fueled a bullish position from investors. Indeed, Goldman Sachs is high on the energy stock, expecting them to do better than competitor Exxon amid the geopolitical questions.
