Western Union, Zoona Transactions Zambia Limited, and Chipper Cash have announced the launch of international money transfer services within the Chipper Cash app.
The co-branded service will allow customers in Zambia to send and receive funds internationally through the mobile platform.
Zoona, a fintech and enterprise payments provider in Zambia, was acquired by Chipper Cash in 2022.
The combined operations now serve approximately 5 million users across the African continent.
This new service brings together Western Union’s global network and long-standing experience in cross-border money movement with the local market knowledge and mobile infrastructure of Chipper Cash and Zoona.
Chipper Cash users in Zambia can now access Western Union’s network spanning over 200 countries and territories.
The service supports transfers to mobile wallets globally, with the option for recipients to collect funds in cash at numerous locations overseas.
A bank account payout feature is expected to be introduced soon.

“Integrating our international money transfer services in the Chipper Cash app means customers can transfer funds across our global network, reliably and with ease. The Chipper Cash app is available for download on Android and iOS devices.
Users can initiate a Western Union transfer using funds stored in their Chipper Cash wallet, which can be topped up via a range of channels, including mobile network operators, banks, ATMs, and retail outlets.
