Ukraine’s Unmanned Systems Force has unveiled an uncrewed surface vehicle (USV) capable of firing laser beams and launching drone swarms.

The “Alligator-9” is a multi-role naval system with three configurations. It can launch six to ten Alligator-5 ToD (torpedo drones) to strike against enemy vessels or carry three to five Alligator-5 EW drones for electronic warfare, reconnaissance, mine clearing, and navigation support.

Apart from drones, the naval USV can fire the Tryzub laser system, which can destroy a wide range of aerial threats, according to Militarnyi.

Its dimensions, speed, and range have not been disclosed. However, the vehicle is said to be a modular platform designed for diverse missions.

Tryzub Laser

Kyiv first announced its Tryzub (“Trident”) laser capability, reportedly already in use on the battlefield, in December 2024.

Meanwhile, the Tryzub on the Alligator-9 can apparently destroy attack drones, bombs, and cruise and ballistic missiles from up to 3,000 meters (9,842 feet), in addition to aircraft and reconnaissance drones, at a maximum distance of 5,000 meters (16,404 feet).

Finally, the USV can use the laser beam to disrupt or disable enemy airborne targets at a range of up to 10,000 meters (32,808 feet).
