The Ukrainian Ministry of Defence has announced the development of its first mental health facility for warfighters near Kyiv.
The hospital will provide services to troops affected by post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety, depression, and related conditions.
Operations inside the center will involve physical and psychological rehabilitation as well as social adaptation for veterans.
For the site, the government selected land that was previously used for the “recreation of politicians, businessmen, and high-ranking officials.”
It was reacquired by the state in April and will now receive “large-scale” renovations according to the defense agency blueprint.

Once activated, the complex will be supervised by psychologists, psychiatrists, rehabilitation specialists, and associated experts.
It will operate under the National Military Medical Clinical Center, the primary medical institution of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defence.
“This story shows how state assets can be used for the benefit of society,” Deputy Defence Minister Brig. Gen. Serhiy Melnyk stated.
“What was once a symbol of privilege and isolation will now become a center of assistance to those who gave their health for the sake of Ukraine. And it is such initiatives that form a truly socially responsible country.”
Medical Evacuation Vehicle Approved
Ukraine’s announcement followed the defense agency’s authorization of a locally developed light armored vehicle for military medical evacuation.
The Djura 4×4 ambulance system is based on the Toyota Land Cruiser 79 Series and can carry up to six people.
It is equipped with advanced medical equipment, an automatic stretcher loading system, specialized ventilation, and video surveillance.
