Ukraine has taken delivery of several tactical vehicles from Japan to support its ground operations against Russian forces.

According to the Japanese Embassy in Ukraine, the unnamed vehicles were handed over to the Ukrainian Armed Forces late last year.

Tokyo announced in May 2023 that it would donate about 100 military vehicles to the war-ravaged nation to show “as much support as we can.”

These include Mitsubishi-manufactured Kogata military light trucks and Morooka tracked carriers.

Kyiv will also receive high-mobility transport vehicles from the Asian nation.

21 грудня, декілька автомобілів від Міністерства оборони Японії прибули до Сил оборони України.

Limited Donations

Despite Japan’s willingness to help the European country, it has only provided non-lethal equipment due to its defense export policy.

It has sent bulletproof vests, military helmets, gas masks, and small reconnaissance drones since the invasion began in February 2022.

Tokyo has also sanctioned 494 Russian firms and organizations.

“We hope the invasion ends as soon as possible and peaceful daily lives return,” Japanese defense official Toshiro Ino said.
