The Ukrainian Ministry of Defence has formally certified the Gyurza-02 4×4 armored combat vehicle for military use.

Assembled by local mobility developer UkrArmoTech, the vehicle is protected by NATO-grade plates that can withstand standard and anti-armor shells as well as fragment blasts.

It has a V-shaped underchassis that redirects severe impact from explosives, bulletproof glass, and shock-absorbing seats to minimize effects on operators and passengers.

The platform weighs 16 tons (32,000 kilograms), measures 7 meters (23 feet) long, and has a capacity for up to 11 personnel.

It is equipped with a 6-speed Allison 3000 transmission and a 385-horsepower Cummins turbodiesel engine for a top speed of 110 kilometers (68 miles) per hour and a range of 1,000 kilometers (621 miles).

The Gyurza-02 has a weapon station that uses a M2 Browning 12.7-millimeter machine gun with 300-round ammunition.

UkrArmoTech noted that the vehicle was constructed in just six months after conceptualization, prototyping, and trials.

Additional Vehicles

Gyurza-02’s approval was announced after UkrArmoTech’s delivery of another proprietary armored vehicle, the “TISA,” for the Ukrainian Armed Forces last May.

This shipment counts as the first of multiple orders to expand the military’s ground-based fleet for logistics, troop transport, and reconnaissance tasks.

The TISA is modeled after the Toyota Land Cruiser 79 and is fitted with a rotating machine gun.

In April, Kyiv certified another domestically-made tactical vehicle for fielding, the Djura 5×5 light armored vehicle, which is also based on the same Toyota chassis.
