The UK Ministry of Defence has completed the construction of a British Army vehicle storage and support facility in Ashchurch Camp, England.

The 25,300-square-meter (272,326-square-foot) center incorporates “modern, sustainable storage and maintenance solutions” to house over 900 military vehicles in the region.

Among the hub’s primary features is its Controlled Humidity Environment technology, which protects the platforms from extreme changes in temperature, decreasing their maintenance costs and untimely deterioration.

Work for the program was completed in partnership with Watford-based engineering company Skanska and Moorgate-based construction firm Mace Group.

“Through meticulous design and construction efforts, we have ensured that the vehicle storage building not only meets but surpasses the required air tightness specifications, enhancing its durability and operational efficiency,” Skanska Executive Vice President Terry Muckian stated.

Mace Defence and National Security Director Graham Seage added that the “level of collaboration across all partners to reach this milestone has been first rate…drawing on lessons and experience from around the DIO portfolio to drive efficiencies and innovations.”

About Ashchurch Camp

The UK government’s Ashchurch installation is the armed forces’ main storage and distribution center.

In 2022, the Defence Infrastructure Organisation launched an infrastructure program to renovate the site in line with the military’s updated vehicle depository and sustainment plans.

Currently, the Ashchurch estate is the only tactical vehicle storehouse in the country that employs the Controlled Humidity Environment capability.
