Highly respected historian Trevor Marshall has died at the age of 77.
Close relatives tell CBC News Mr. Marshall passed away at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital today around 4 p.m.
His daughter Sharifa Marshall says her beloved father was battling a longstanding illness and was in and out of hospital for the past few years.
She says the former historian, educator and author touched many lives as he made a major contribution to the preservation of Caribbean history and culture.
Mr. Marshall celebrated his birthday yesterday.
