Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence is not going to be a part of the second season of Netflix’s ‘Quarterback’ docuseries.
He declined as he felt that the timing was not right, as 2023 will be just his third season in the NFL.
The news was reported by Michael David Smith of ProFootball Talk, as Lawrence confirmed that he was contacted about appearing in the show.
“I was approached, I decided to not do it this year,” the quarterback said.
“I feel like it’s just not the right time for me. Maybe in the future.
“I watched the show, though. I thought it was great. I think they did a great job.”
The Jaguars player has been on the rise in his short career. Selected to his first Pro Bowl in 2022, he helped the team reach the playoffs and won his first post-season game.
In his second year in the league, he racked up 4,113 yards and 25 touchdowns in the regular season.
The quarterbacks who don’t want to be in ‘Quarterback’
Lawrence isn’t the first to talk about declining to participate in the second season of the series. Last Thursday, Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen expressed uncertainty about accepting a role, citing the “distractions” he might have during the season.
Dak Prescott is another to have publicly turned it down, explaining that he already gets enough media attention given the hype around the Dallas Cowboys.
The first season of the series featured Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins and Atlanta Falcons quarterback Marcus Mariota.
