Not all countries in Africa are equal when it comes to day-to-day living. Some offer safer streets, better healthcare, easier commutes, and more affordable housing, while others can make daily life a challenge.

Numbeo’s 2026 Quality of Life Index takes a close look at all these factors, purchasing power, cost of living, pollution, safety, healthcare, climate, and more, to rank countries.

Based on surveys from residents themselves, the report highlights the five African nations where life feels easiest, most comfortable, and rewarding, giving a real snapshot of where people enjoy living the most.
