Some countries in Africa boast a degree of safety. According to Numbeo, one of the world’s leading data and research platforms, countries like Rwanda, Tunisia, and Ghana are among the safest in the world.

It feels good to walk around without having your heart in your mouth, doesn’t it? There’s something incredibly comforting about knowing you can go about your day without constantly worrying about your safety.

However, feeling a sense of security in an environment is a luxury to many people in different parts of the world due to the presence of crime.

In an earlier article, we noted that the prevalence and types of crime can vary significantly depending on where you are. Some countries in Africa, for instance, face unique challenges that complicate the issue.

For example, South Africa has the highest crime index in mid-2024 with a score of 74.8. Six out of the top 10 cities with the highest crime index in mid-2024 are in the country.

Nigeria, Africa’s most populous country, follows as the country with the highest crime on the continent with a score of 66.7. Angola comes in third with a score of 66.1.

However, on the flip side, some countries on the continent boast a degree of safety. According to Numbeo, one of the world’s leading data and research platforms, countries like Rwanda, Tunisia, and Ghana are among the safest in the world, boasting relatively low crime indices and high safety indices. Specifically, Rwanda has a safety index of 73.6, Tunisia 55.9, and Ghana 54.6.
