Poor quality of life in cities may have far-reaching implications, hurting not just inhabitants’ well-being but also the city’s economic prospects, social stability, and environmental sustainability.

When cities fail to offer basic services, safe environments, and possibilities for growth, the consequences can be severe and long-lasting.

Cities with low living conditions frequently struggle to attract qualified professionals and entrepreneurs.

Inadequate housing, inadequate public transit, high crime rates, and a lack of recreational possibilities dissuade people from establishing or living in these places.

Talented individuals frequently relocate to higher-performing areas, resulting in a “brain drain” that stifles local economic and cultural growth.

34. Colombo, Sri Lanka.

Low-quality cities also fail to stimulate economic activity. High crime rates, polluted surroundings, and poor healthcare systems raise expenses for companies and governments.

These difficulties put a burden on public resources, leaving limited room for investments in infrastructure and community services. As a result, economic stagnation frequently becomes a recurring problem.

Furthermore, cities with low living conditions are less likely to attract local and international investment. Companies are cautious to set up operations in places where employees may encounter health hazards, safety problems, or a lack of access to excellent facilities.

With that said, here are the top 10 cities in the world with the lowest quality of life according to data from Numbeo.
