A nation’s defense, humanitarian endeavors, and disaster response capabilities can all suffer from a shortage of helicopters, which are essential in many different fields.

To strengthen national defense, helicopters are essential. They make it possible to quickly deploy troops, conduct reconnaissance, and provide air support in places where fixed-wing aircraft are unable to function efficiently.

However, nations with small helicopter fleets find it difficult to protect their borders and deal with extremist threats or insurgencies.

This leaves them open to smuggling, insurgent activities, and territorial invasions. Governments find it difficult to maintain peace and stability in the absence of sufficient airborne monitoring and reaction capabilities.

The incapacity of a small helicopter fleet to react quickly to emergencies is one of its most significant drawbacks.

In times of public health emergencies, natural catastrophes, or internal conflicts, helicopters offer the ability to respond quickly.

Without them, governments are compelled to use slower ground-based options, which can exacerbate the effects on impacted communities and postpone the delivery of help, an example would be how pivotal helicopters have been in putting out the devastating LA fires.

Helicopters can swiftly transport rescue personnel, food, and medical supplies to remote locations during floods or wildfires.

Vulnerable communities suffer for a long period since nations with few helicopters frequently find it difficult to get to these areas in time.

With that said, here are the 10 African countries with the fewest helicopters at the start of the new year, according to Global FirePower.
