President Bola Tinubu has granted approval for the incorporation of the construction of the Itawure – Aramoko – Ado Ekiti and the Aramoko – Ijero – Ifaki Ekiti highways into the 2026 budget of the Federal Government.
The Special Adviser on Media to the Governor of Ekiti State, Biodun Oyebanji, Yinka Oyebode, revealed this in a statement disseminated in Ado Ekiti on Wednesday.
Oyebode noted that a letter confirming the approval “has been officially dispatched from the Office of the President to the Honourable Minister of Works, Engr David Umahi. The Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji, was also included in the correspondence.”
Furthermore, Oyebode pointed out that “upon completion, the two newly sanctioned roads will significantly facilitate travel, enhance connectivity across various regions of the nation, stimulate commercial activities, and unlock the state to a broader array of economic prospects and advancements.”
He elaborated that “this development follows the meeting between Governor Oyebanji and the Senate Leader, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, with President Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Sunday, November 9, 2025, where the poor state of federal roads in the region was addressed.”
It is worth mentioning that there has been considerable public outcry and intentional misinformation concerning the abysmal conditions of some federal roads in Ekiti State, particularly the Itawure – Aramoko – Ado Ekiti Road.
The Tinubu-led Federal Government has awarded contracts for three such highways, which include the Akure – Ikere – Ado Ekiti Road and Ifaki – Oye – Ikole – Omuo Ekiti Roads in the region, and contractors have been deployed to the work sites.

The Oyebanji administration in Ekiti State has also completed one of these—namely the Ado-Iworoko-Ifaki Road—alongside numerous inter-city and intra-city road projects over the past three years.
In accordance with the governor’s media adviser, Oyebanji, on behalf of the Ekiti populace, conveyed gratitude to Tinubu for his pivotal intervention in the socio-economic and infrastructural growth of Ekiti State, along with the additional support extended to the state.
Oyebode, underscoring the Oyebanji government’s unwavering commitment to the welfare and prosperity of the citizens, assured that the administration would persist in collaborating with the Federal Government, various institutions, private sector stakeholders, and development agencies in its developmental initiatives.
