Tinubu Nominates Fresh Leadership for NERC

President Bola Tinubu has officially put forth the nomination of Abdullahi Ramat as the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission.

Moreover, he has also appointed Mr. Abubakar Yusuf as the suggested Commissioner for Consumer Affairs and Dr. Fouad Olayinka Animashun to take on the role of Commissioner for Finance and Management Services at the regulatory body.

This announcement was made public in a statement penned by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, on Thursday.

The statement revealed, President Bola Tinubu has nominated Engr. Abdullahi Garba Ramat as the esteemed new Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC). Engr. Ramat, aged 39, is a distinguished electrical engineer and administrator, holding a PhD in Strategic Management, alongside other notable qualifications.

Furthermore, President Tinubu nominated two commissioners for NERC: Mr. Abubakar Yusuf as Commissioner for Consumer Affairs and Dr. Fouad Olayinka Animashun as Commissioner for Finance and Management Services. All nominations are contingent upon Senate confirmation, the statement elaborated.

It continued, In order to prevent a leadership void within this vital regulatory agency, the President has instructed that Engr. Ramat assume office in an acting capacity until he undergoes screening by the Senate, as mandated by law.

President Tinubu encouraged the newly appointed officials to leverage their expertise and experience to carry out their responsibilities diligently and to work tirelessly to further the government’s vision for the power sector.
