South African designer Hanneke Lourens always had a creative spirit, but it took her a while to find her calling. Starting out in fashion, she ultimately turned to woodworking and was struck by the similarities of the disciplines. With both needing to suit the human form, it made sense that they shared considerations of proportion, comfort, and beauty.
