There is Urge To End Violence Against Children in Kenya, Says PS Joseph Motari
Ending child violence is an initiative that can be achieved through collective efforts.
Last month, the State Department For Social Protection and Senior Citizen Affairs onboarded an additional 570,263 Inua Jamii beneficiaries, bringing the total number of the Programme’s beneficiaries to 1.6 Million.
The State Department For Social Protection and Senior Citizen Affairs, Principal Secretary Mr. Joseph Motari, has this morning engaged in a candid conversation on Ending Violence Against Children in Kenya.
This discussion underscores the urgency and importance of addressing this critical issue which PS Motari is confident that they have laid a strong foundation for impactful action moving forward.

Speaking during the meeting, PS Motari noted that “We have made significant strides towards a unified approach to preventing and responding to violence against children in Kenya. By identifying root causes, discussing strategic sector-specific interventions, and committing to collaborative efforts across various sectors, we are setting the stage for meaningful change.”
“The Inua Jamii programme, under the State Department, supports 353,564 households with orphans and vulnerable children through monthly stipends to alleviate poverty. Last month, we onboarded an additional 570,263 beneficiaries, bringing the total number of the Programme’s beneficiaries to 1.6 Million. This follows President Ruto’s directive last year to increase the total number of beneficiaries to 2.5Million in three phases.”He added
Additionally, households in the Inua Jamii Programme with expectant mothers and children under three years benefit from the Nutrition Improvement through Cash and Health in Education (NICHE) programme, implemented in collaboration with our development partners.
This programme aims to improve the growth and development outcomes of children in their early years and has benefited over 33,000 households since its inception in 2020.
