A New Definition of Home

As technology continues to reshape everyday life, the meaning of “home” is rapidly evolving across East Africa. What was once simply a place to rest has become a dynamic environment that learns, adapts, and responds to the needs of its occupants.

At Samsung Electronics East Africa, this transformation is driven by a bold vision known as AI for All a future where artificial intelligence makes everyday living simpler, smarter, and more connected.

IoT Becomes Everyday Reality

The concept of the Internet of Things (IoT) is no longer theoretical. Millions of consumers in Kenya and across the region now experience connected technology in their daily routines.

By integrating mobile innovation with AI-enabled home appliances, Samsung is building a seamless ecosystem where devices communicate with each other and simplify daily life.

Smartphones as the Smart Home Hub

At the center of this connected ecosystem is the Samsung Galaxy S26 series, the company’s most intuitive AI-powered smartphone to date.

In today’s digital environment, smartphones have evolved far beyond communication tools. They now act as command centers for the smart home.

Through the Samsung SmartThings platform, the Galaxy S26 can manage multiple home devices from a single interface. For example, while navigating traffic in Nairobi, users can remotely prepare their homes before arrival.

Using agentic AI, the phone learns a user’s routine. If the system detects that someone is nearing home, it can signal a WindFree air conditioner to begin cooling the room in advance. By the time the user walks through the door, the space is already comfortable.

Smart Kitchens and Intelligent Appliances

Samsung’s vision for connected living extends into the kitchen and laundry room, where AI-enabled appliances are transforming everyday tasks.

The Bespoke AI Family Hub refrigerator, for instance, does more than store food. Using AI Vision technology, it identifies ingredients, tracks expiration dates, and suggests recipes based on available items.

Once a recipe is selected on the smartphone, the instructions are automatically transmitted to the Bespoke AI Oven, which preheats to the correct temperature.

Laundry appliances are also becoming more intelligent. The Bespoke AI Laundry Combo uses sensors to detect fabric weight and soil levels, automatically adjusting water and detergent usage.

These innovations remove much of the guesswork from household chores and free up time for more meaningful activities.

Sustainability at the Core

For East Africa, technological innovation must also address sustainability challenges. Energy efficiency remains a key concern for households and businesses across the region.

Samsung’s AI Energy Mode helps address this need by allowing users to monitor energy consumption through the SmartThings app on their Galaxy devices.

By analysing real-time usage data, AI-powered appliances optimize energy consumption without compromising performance. This approach supports the region’s broader push toward green energy adoption and digital transformation.

Building an Open and Secure Ecosystem

As connected devices become more common, interoperability and security are increasingly important.

Samsung continues to support global standards such as Matter, ensuring that smart home devices can work together across brands.

At the same time, security remains a priority. Each device in the Samsung ecosystem is protected by Samsung Knox, safeguarding personal data and protecting connected homes from cyber threats.

The Future of Connected Living

At its core, the next phase of digital transformation is about making technology more human-centric.

Samsung’s approach to AI-powered living focuses on building tools that integrate naturally into everyday life. From smart appliances to intelligent smartphones, the goal is simple: create homes that are intuitive, efficient, and seamlessly connected.

As connectivity expands across East Africa, the smart home is no longer a distant concept it is quickly becoming the new standard for modern living.
