GENEVA, Switzerland, (TaiwanToday) – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) staged a seminar on smart medical devices on May 18 in Geneva, highlighting the government’s commitment to advancing global health care; representatives from Acer Medical, based in New Taipei City, and Quanta Computer Inc., headquartered in the northern city of Taoyuan, briefed the audience on smart medical tools, MOFA said.

The event drew over 100 attendees, including World Health Assembly delegates from various countries, international medical teams and local professionals.

According to the ministry, Acer Medical’s VeriOsteo OP detects abnormalities in bone mass density with chest X-rays and its operation does not require a specialist. The company also released an artificial intelligence-assisted diagnostic system called VeriSee DR, which rapidly screens patients for symptoms of diabetic retinopathy.

Quanta Computer Inc., launched an AI medical platform that provides remote medical services, the MOFA said. The company also hosted multiple workshops to train medical personnel from members of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation in adopting AI tools to conduct precise diagnoses.

MOFA arranged for the two corporations to visit Geneva University Hospitals and Campus Biotech at University of Geneva to gain insight into the future of smart medicine and to explore potential business opportunities.

The government pledged to continue integrating public and private resources as it carries out its policy of medical diplomacy, the ministry said.
