The Republic of China Army has showcased its newly adopted tactical ground system, the M1167 High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle (HMMWV), in Taichung.

Compared to earlier Humvee versions, this platform is designed with enhanced firepower assistance and armor to enable force protection while maintaining constant combat availability on the modern battlefield.

Among the vehicle’s main features is an “up-armored” TOW (tube-launched, optically-tracked, wire-guided) anti-tank missile capability for extended range and accuracy.

The TOW integration allows users to mount various weapons systems and neutralize targets in a 360-degree arc of fire.

Moreover, this Humvee has expanded passenger and cargo capacity (1,850 pounds/839 kilograms), as well as support for logistics in an active zone under all weather conditions through airdrop or rotary-wing sling-load delivery.

For anti-ballistics, the vehicle has a standard chassis, windscreen, and underbody coat, and has options for additional frag kits depending on mission requirements.

The M1167 Humvee is powered by a 190 horsepower turbocharged diesel engine and a four-speed automatic transmission for a maximum speed of 70 miles (113 kilometers) per hour.

Tactical Ambulance

Days before its Humvee’s introduction, the Taiwanese military presented a new tactical vehicle for medical evacuation that can carry four to 10 injured personnel.

The platform is equipped with toxic chemical filtration technology to sustain patient support in hazardous environments.

The vehicle is likely based on the Daily 4×4 truck system developed by Italian defense contractor Iveco.
