Swedish software and tech services provider Systecon has announced its support for the Global Combat Air Programme (GCAP) between the UK, Italy, and Japan to develop a sixth-generation fighter jet by 2035.

Selected by BAE Systems Air, Systecon will provide its Opus Suite software and associated services to the GCAP headquarters. This contribution aims to support the program’s data-driven Life Cycle Management (LCM) approach, aiding the development of a sovereign sixth-gen fighter aircraft.

“In these early stages of a program, the application of a true LCM perspective has an immense impact,” Systecon CEO Dan Andersson explained. “The early decisions on design and supportability are decisive for what mission capability, readiness and cost-effectiveness can be achieved by this fighter program during its entire life span.”

Data-Driven Analytics for Vital Early Decisions

Systecon’s OPUS10 Opus Suite optimization software and SIMLOX simulation software will provide the GCAP with vital support for “supportability engineering, systems engineering, and mission engineering” throughout the program’s life cycle, the firm said.

To realize this goal, the company will collaborate with main contractors BAE Systems, Leonardo, and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries.

The approach covers translating operational requirements to RAM and Supportability requirements, assessing and comparing alternative system design alternatives, maintenance concept alternatives, and budgeting and life cycle cost analysis.
