Syrian refugees in Ethiopia, particularly in the Bole Michael neighborhood of Addis Ababa, are keeping the Ramadan iftar tradition alive despite their hardships. Syrian restaurant owner Ahmed Ibrahim offers free meals to those in need during the holy month, reflecting the strong community spirit and generosity seen in his homeland. Though poverty is widespread, the festival brings Syrians and Ethiopians together, fostering cross-cultural bonds. Despite the challenges of displacement, Syrians like Ibrahim and others continue to maintain cultural practices, ensuring that the spirit of Ramadan remains vibrant in their new home while offering support to those struggling.
