Global offshore company, Subsea7, has announced the award of a significant subsea contract, valued between $50 million and $150 million, for a strategically important project in West Africa.

The contract development was publicised on the company’s website today.

“Our close and agile collaboration with our clients allows us to make possible cost-effective and reliable offshore solutions for their needs. We are pleased to be able to support this client in executing such a strategically important project in West Africa,” says Jerome Perrin, Vice President for Africa, Middle East, and Türkiye at Subsea7.

Under the terms of the contract, the global offshore leader will be responsible for the transportation and installation of flexible pipelines, umbilicals, and associated subsea components.

These installations, the firm says, will facilitate the connection of a floating production, storage, and offloading (FPSO) vessel.

Additionally, the company will conduct pre-laying activities in preparation for an upcoming drilling campaign.

Project management and engineering efforts are set to commence immediately from Subsea7’s offices in Sutton, UK, and Suresnes, France.

Offshore operations are scheduled to begin in 2026.

Although the company didn’t state the exact location of the multi-million-dollar project in West Africa, more information on the contract will be provided as the company disclose further details.

Moreover, West Africa has emerged as one of the world’s most dynamic regions for deepwater oil exploration and production, a key market for companies like Subsea7.

Countries such as Nigeria, Angola, Ghana, Côte d’Ivoire, and Gabon are at the forefront of this offshore boom, attracting billions of dollars in investments from international oil companies (IOCs) and state-owned enterprises.

To tap into the current boom in the region, the Benin Republic is facilitating actions to redevelop the historic Sèmè offshore field. The project is handled by Norway’s Lime Petroleum.

This announcement comes days after Subsea7 won a similar award from ConocoPhillips for a front-end engineering and design (FEED) study for the Previously Produced Fields (PPF) development project, offshore Norway.

If the Norwegian development project passes final investment decision and is approved by the authorities, ConocoPhillips is expected to employ the services of Subsea7 for the installation of subsea structures, umbilicals, risers and flowlines.
