ST Engineering has secured contracts to supply mine countermeasure (MCM) unmanned systems for the Republic of Singapore Navy.

The systems will be delivered in phases starting in 2027.

The package includes unmanned surface vessels (USVs), autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs), and a command-and-control center (C2), all designed to work together to detect and neutralize underwater mines.

The USVs and AUVs will integrate advanced sensors to detect and classify mines and payloads for neutralization.

Real-time data will be sent over a secure network to the C2 center, allowing for quick assessments and coordinated responses.

The C2 center will act as the control hub, remotely managing the USVs and AUVs from shore or a mothership, keeping personnel a safe distance during operations.

The company will also deliver a high-fidelity simulation system to help crews practice operations, improve decision-making, and run MCM scenarios in a safe environment.

AUV System

ST Engineering’s MERCURY AUV system supports seabed mapping, search-and-locate operations, and environmental monitoring.

Equipped with advanced sensors, navigation, and communication systems, MERCURY is used for various applications.

These include mine countermeasures, pipeline and cable inspections, and debris detection.

The system is fitted with synthetic aperture sonar, high-resolution side scan sonar, and precise inertial navigation, enabling the AUV to gather and process detailed seabed data to detect potential threats or objects.

Designed to operate in shallow or congested waters, the AUV can be deployed with a specialized trolley and recovery system.
