Ushering in the new year means another chance at taking in new art which offers a different perspective to art consumers. Below are some South African art fairs to look forward to in 2024.

Investec Cape Town Art Fair, Cape Town

This is Africa’s largest art fair where over 100 exhibitors, 25 000 visitors, and 6 500 VIPs, attend every year. Its attraction is the platform it gives galleries, collectors, curators, and artists from around the globe to create connections at the forefront of contemporary art. Investec Cape Town Art Fair has proven to be the place where the fast-growing African art market and the international art world meet and they will be meeting for the 11th edition from 16-18 February 2024. The theme for the 2024 edition of the fair is: Unbound. This will be a showcase of art that liberates the mind where the starting point is the boundless imagination and limitless potential of art to inspire and challenge. It will provide a platform for art that provokes the imagination and breaks away from traditional storytelling and social expectations.

DuduBloom More ’Contending with control’, 2023

RMB Latitudes, Johannesburg

RMB Latitudes is an indoor-outdoor art experience aimed at celebrating the creative spirit while fostering new artistic relationships, as well as connecting galleries to buyers and the public. Latitudes’ mission is to create a transformed, collaborative, inclusive, accessible, and uniquely African art ecosystem. The 2024 edition showcases sculpture as well as solo and duo artist presentations. In addition to traditional art fair booths and galleries, curators and artists will be encouraged to create their own unique exhibition spaces. in response to the intimate three acre venue of Shepstone Gardens, Johannesburg. The fair opens on Wednesday the 29th of May 2024 and will be open until the 30th of May 2024 for invitation only. On Friday the 31st of May 2024 it opens to the public until Sunday the 2nd of June 2024.

FNB Art Joburg, Johannesburg

Africa’s leading and longest running contemporary art fair, FNB Art Joburg, returns to Sandton Convention Centre for its 17th edition in September 2024.
