The US Army has awarded Sikorsky a $1.24 billion contract modification for foreign military sales of UH-60M Black Hawk helicopters.

The aircraft will be delivered to Australia, Brazil, Greece, Sweden, and Thailand, with work expected to be completed by December 31, 2027.

Australia has ordered 40 UH-60Ms and received eight by August. Brazil and Sweden have each ordered 12 aircraft, while Thailand ordered four back in 2012.

Meanwhile, the US government awarded a foreign military sale contract this month to supply Greece with 35 Black Hawks.

“Our partnership with Greece spans decades, and we are pleased to see the nation’s continued trust in Sikorsky helicopters as Greece will benefit from an integrated Hawk family of aircraft supporting national security and humanitarian missions,” Sikorsky VP of Army and Air Force Systems Hamid Salim said.

“The Black Hawk helicopter offers Greece a range of operational capabilities and a global ecosystem of more than 5,000 Hawk aircraft operated by 36 countries around the world.

The versatile UH-60M Black Hawk has been in service with the US Army since 1979, performing a variety of missions, including air assault, special operations, medical evacuation, combat search and rescue, command and control, and VIP transport.

An estimated 4,000 UH-60Ms are operational worldwide across 36 countries, having collectively logged over 15 million flight hours, including more than 5 million combat hours.

The aircraft has a maximum gross weight of 22,000 pounds (9,979 kilograms) and a cruise speed of 151 knots (174 miles/280 kilometers per hour).
