A reality show ‘The Next Crypto Gem’ is all set to make its debut on Sept. 7 in 56 countries. The show is produced by Web3 incubator, The Hourglass Collective. The reality show, dubbed the Shark Tank of Crypto, looks to bridge the gap between crypto and mainstream entertainment.
Contestants will compete against each other via challenges to win a prize of around $150,000. Prominent crypto influencers Layah Heilpern, George Tung, and Brian D. Evans will judge the show. Others, including original Shark Tank shark Kevin Harrington, Poker player Tom Dwan, and infamous YouTuber Ben Armstrong, a.k.a. ‘BitBoy Crypto’, will make cameo appearances as guests.
Hourglass recently unveiled on X [formerly Twitter] that ‘DeFi Kingdoms,’ represented by Dreamer made it to the final four of the show. Blockchain gaming ecosystems Vulcan Forged, and The ‘Tuska’ Ecosystem also managed to make a cut to the top four.

Show to Bring Crypto to ‘Mainstream’ Audience
The first episode’s challenge will revolve around people who are “the least likely to understand crypto and the most unfriendly to crypto.” The participants will be split into four teams to explain the basics of blockchain to the “no coiners” to win the challenge. Throughout the show, the educational factor will be honored. In fact, the show will have many “The Big Short” moments where the judges will step in to break-down crypto jargon.

Jett Tang, Executive Producer of The Next Crypto Gem, revealed in a recent interview that the heart of the show is to bring crypto to a “mainstream audience for the first time. The teamwork, the rivalry, the larger-than-life characters, and the out-the-box ideas.”
Jade, the host of the Behind the PFP podcast, will also appear on the show. A day ago, she posted on X [formerly Twitter],
“It feels like we were filming just yesterday & now there’s only two days until the premiere of The Next Crypto Gem!”
The show will air on Insight TV’s 178 platforms in more than 55 countries in over 12 languages. The confirmed platforms include Amazon Prime, PlutoTV, Samsung TV, and Vizio LG.
