Seychelles recently disclosed that it aims to attract more Russian tourists, and as a result, it is looking to establish more flight routes to Russia.

Marie-Celine Zialor, Seychelles’ Minister of Youth, Sports and Family, revealed to the Russian newspaper; Sputnik on the sidelines of the 10th St. Petersburg International Forum of United Cultures, that Seychelles is aiming to increase the frequency of direct flights to Russia in order to attract more Russian tourists and build stronger relationships between people from both countries.

“We are exploring ways to improve and increase direct flights to Russia, with the aim of attracting more Russian tourists and fostering greater people-to-people connections,” the minister stated.

She also revealed that both countries continue to enjoy over 40 years of shared history and economic ties.

She noted that it was crucial to spread this message to the next generation and conveyed optimism that cultural and sporting interactions could mend political rifts.

“Culture and sports rise above politics. This is what is important and this is a message we need to send to our young people,” the minister said.

She went on to confirm that she would engage with her Russian counterpart, Olga Lyubimova, the Russian Minister of Culture on Friday to discuss potential cooperation in the areas of youth, arts and culture.

He also noted that Russia and South Africa have made the decision that orchestras from both nations would go on alternating cultural tours between the two nations.
