Sanlam Kenya Empowers Athletes with Financial Literacy

Sanlam Kenya Plc (NSE: SLAM) has reaffirmed its commitment to nurturing local sporting talent and promoting financial literacy among athletes.

During the flag-off of Kenya’s elite contingent to the Sanlam Cape Town Marathon, Africa’s first Abbott World Marathon, Sanlam Kenya Group CEO Dr. Nyamemba Tumbo announced that the firm is working with sports stakeholders to roll out tailored financial literacy programs.

“At Sanlam Kenya, we are partnering with our sportspersons in more ways than one,” said Dr. Tumbo.

“Beyond sponsorships, we are introducing financial lessons to help athletes manage their income and secure their future, both during and after their careers.”

The team, fully sponsored by Sanlam, was flagged off at Sanlam Tower in Nairobi by Dr. Paul Tergat, founder of the SOYA Awards and IOC member.

It features top long-distance runners, including Lilian Jepkorir Chebii, Vincent Kipyegon Ronoh, Josephat Kipkoech, Edwin Kiptoo, Fridah Chepkite Lodepa, Flomena Chepkiach Ngurasia, Godfrey Musanga, and Japhet Kiptoo Kiplagat.

Winners stand to earn USD 40,000 in prize money, a reflection of Sanlam’s mission to create opportunities and celebrate African excellence on the world stage.

Sanlam Kenya Plc, a pan-African financial services group listed on the Johannesburg, Namibian, and A2X stock exchanges, provides life and general insurance, investment, and wealth management solutions across the continent.
