Safaricom Ethiopia has expanded its national network footprint with the official launch of 4G services across Bale Zone, extending modern mobile connectivity to a wide range of towns in the region. The rollout covers Robe, Goba, Ali, Meleyu, Selka, Giner, Gasera, Agarfa, Shalo, Salu, Kara Megen, Homa, Goro, and Dinsho, marking a significant milestone in the operator’s ongoing nationwide expansion.

The newly launched network is powered by a high-quality 4G infrastructure supported by 42 transmission towers and a fiber backbone, ensuring reliable and high-speed connectivity. The infrastructure is also 5G-ready, positioning the region to benefit from next-generation services in the future. This full interconnection across networks will enable seamless voice calls and SMS, while international roaming services are also available.

Beyond connectivity, the expansion is delivering tangible economic benefits. More than 300 jobs have already been created across the covered towns, with employment expected to grow to around 1,200 as network deployment and service rollout continue. Customers can access Safaricom services through 16 Safaricom retail shops, as well as a growing ecosystem of M-PESA agents, merchants, and retailers.

Safaricom Ethiopia said the Bale Zone expansion reflects its broader commitment to connecting underserved communities, supporting local economies, and accelerating digital inclusion across the country as it builds a robust, future-ready telecommunications network nationwide.
