Safaricom PLC has launched its 2025 Sustainable Business Report under the theme ‘Anchored in Purpose, Accelerating a Digital Future,’ marking another milestone in its mission to drive impact through innovation and sustainability.
The 2025 report highlights the company’s progress in advancing digital inclusion, environmental stewardship, and social impact while positioning technology as a key enabler of Kenya’s sustainable development goals.

Dr. Peter Ndegwa, Group Chief Executive Officer, said:
“For over a decade, we have integrated environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles into every part of our business. Sustainability is the lens through which we see every decision we make. Now in our 14th year of publishing our Annual Sustainable Business Report, we continue to hold ourselves accountable, using the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as our blueprint for impact.”

Financial Update: Safaricom Maintains Dividend Following Strong Stock Performance
Safaricom reaffirmed that its strategy remains focused on building a digitally empowered society through purpose-led initiatives that balance profitability with long-term positive impact for communities and the planet.
Safaricom aims to become a net-zero company by 2050. To achieve this, the company will plant 5 million trees by 2030 to offset 26% of its emissions, 5,000 sites will be transitioned to solar, more than 100,000 tons of CO₂e is expected to be sequestered by 2030, and a sustainability-linked loan of KSH 30 billion has been secured to advance its net-zero goals, gender diversity, and social equality.
