Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) will equip the South Korean Army’s future light armed helicopter with an Israeli GPS anti-jamming solution.

Israel Aerospace Industries’ ADA system is capable of suppressing jamming interference from multiple directions, ensuring continued functionality of GNSS-based navigation, communication, and EW systems.

“The ADA system can be easily integrated with existing navigation solutions of airborne, surface, and maritime platforms as well as guided munitions,” the company explained.

“It operates simultaneously in L1 and L2 bands, supports C/A and P(Y) signals and has provisions for M-code waveform.”

Light Armed Helicopter

KAI will receive the system for second phase production of the light armed helicopter being built under a $1.1-billion contract.

The chopper will replace the Korean military’s US-origin 500MD and Bell AH-1S Cobra attack helicopters, with delivery of the first phase production aircraft expected this year.

The second phase production helicopters are expected to be delivered between 2025 and 2028.

The light armed helicopter will be South Korea’s second indigenous helicopter after KAI’s KUH-1 Surion utility helicopter, with expected roles including light attack, close air support, escort, and transportation.
