Kigali now hosts the New Generation Academy, Rwanda’s first accredited institution providing professional education in software programming and embedded systems. Scheduled to launch on October 13, the program is designed for students who completed Senior 3 with high scores in the 2024/2025 national exams.

New Generation Academy distinguishes itself with a practical, project-centered learning model. From the start, students are trained in coding, robotics, and STEM—science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. The school prioritizes experiential learning, providing programs aligned with national and international standards, backed by an equivalence certificate from the Higher Education Council (HEC).

The school’s launch coincides with the growing emphasis on coding and technology education across Africa. Its mission is to address the continent’s rising need for digital expertise and equip young people for careers in the evolving digital economy. The Brookings Institution’s “Foresight Africa 2025–2030” report estimates that about 230 million jobs in sub-Saharan Africa will demand digital skills.

New Generation Academy’s curriculum is built to develop students’ advanced programming skills, hands-on project experience, and familiarity with emerging technologies. These efforts aim to cultivate a new wave of tech talent ready to fuel startup growth and accelerate Africa’s digital transformation.
