Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces (RSF) commander, Mohammed Hamdan Dagalo, has admitted that his troops have withdrawn from Khartoum, days after vowing “no retreat.” The Sudanese army has since reclaimed key parts of the capital, including the presidential palace and airport, following a decisive offensive. Despite the setback, Dagalo promised a return, dismissing any negotiations with the army. Meanwhile, army chief Abdel Fattah al-Burhan echoed similar defiance, pledging to eliminate the RSF completely. The conflict, now nearing its second year, has caused over 12 million displacements and tens of thousands of deaths. As famine looms, US officials, including Secretary of State Marco Rubio, continue seeking diplomatic solutions to end what has become one of the world’s worst humanitarian crises.
