Finland-based business support systems (BSS) provider Qvantel announced it is acquiring rival Optiva, in a move aimed at expanding its scale and accelerating the development of full-stack, AI-enabled BSS solutions.

In a statement, Qvantel said the combined business will serve more than 70 communications service providers (CSPs) across 40 countries, supported by a workforce of over 1,000 employees.

Qvantel chairman Matti Roto noted the deal builds on the company’s momentum in the BSS market. “With a unified global team, extended scale and close collaboration with leading CSPs, the combination of Qvantel and Optiva is set to lead the next evolution of BSS and monetisation in the AI era.”

Optiva CEO Robert Stabile added the integration is already yielding results. “Our joint team is already delivering results, including a multi-country deployment for a leading CSP. We remain committed to helping customers accelerate innovation and growth.”
