In a grand ceremony at the Kremlin today, Russian President Vladimir Putin took the oath of office for an unprecedented fifth term, solidifying his grip on power in the country.

At 71 years old, Putin has been at the helm of Russian politics since the early 2000s, and his recent reelection in March further extends his tenure. The election process, however, was criticized for lacking genuine opposition.
