President Tinubu Advocates for Unified Building Approvals to Minimize Project Delays

Nigeria’s President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has urged governors to work in partnership with the federal government to streamline building approvals. This collaboration aims to alleviate the challenges of compensation and delays in implementing projects that benefit the public.

During the commissioning of the Lekki Deep Sea Port Access Road at the Dangote Refinery and Petrochemical Plant in Lagos, the President expressed optimism that increased funding would be allocated for infrastructure development. He highlighted that effective coordination of approvals between state and federal governments is essential for constructing major roads and bridges across the country.

The President stated, “I have instructed the Minister of Works, David Umahi, and the Surveyor General of the Federation to collaborate more closely with the governors.

“Dear governors, let’s unite in our efforts. Please do not grant planning approvals without consulting the Surveyor General and the Ministry of Works. I urge you to align with our shared development goals.

“I want to reiterate the Federal Government of Nigeria’s ban on any dredging activities within a 10-kilometer radius of all our bridges nationwide. I call on all governors, relevant agencies, and security forces to enforce this ban immediately,” President Tinubu emphasized.

This announcement came just five days after the President inaugurated Phase 1 of Section One of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway in Lagos. He praised the Federal Ministry of Works, Hitech Construction Company Limited, Dangote Industries Limited, BUA, and all contractors involved in the nation’s road development efforts.
