The Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, announced that power supply in northern Nigeria is expected to be restored by this weekend following several days of outages.
Adelabu made this announcement on Tuesday while providing updates to journalists regarding efforts to restore electricity to the region.
In a statement shared on the official X account of the Transmission Company of Nigeria, Adelabu explained that the restoration of the vandalized Shiroro-Kaduna line has been delayed due to security concerns.
He emphasized that the government is committed to finding alternative solutions to repair the damaged line.
“We have experienced vandalism in the past, but it was addressed quickly. This time, however, the damage is more extensive, and repairs have been hindered by security threats,” Adelabu stated. “We are actively working on this issue, and we are optimistic that power will be restored by the end of the week. We are also exploring alternative solutions while we continue to address the damaged towers.”
This announcement comes amid growing calls from Nigerians for Adelabu’s resignation due to the ongoing power issues in northern Nigeria.
