TORONTO, Canada – Saint Lucia’s Prime Minister Philip J. Pierre, and Leader of the Opposition (LOO) Allen Chastanet are both set to lead Townhall meetings in Canada and the USA, 7- 9 November.

The intense schedules in Saint Lucia and now, the diaspora, are understood to be carefully crafted to energise, lobby voters, and influence the political environment.

The Consulate General of Saint Lucia in New York says a special Town Hall meeting titled “A Conversation with Prime Minister Philip J. Pierre” is scheduled for November 7 at 6:30 pm in Brooklyn, New York.

“The forum provides Saint Lucians living abroad with an opportunity to interact directly with the prime minister, share their views, and learn more about the government’s policies and national development priorities. The prime minister looks forward to this important event to engage directly with the Saint Lucian community in the diaspora.”

A media note from the Office of the Prime Minister notified the public of Saint Lucia that Prime Minister Pierre is currently off the island, returning the morning of Saturday, November 8, 2025.

Leader of the opposition, Chastanet, who is also off island, has scheduled a Town Hall meeting in Toronto, Canada, this evening says he is: “Looking forward to sharing the UWP’s vision and plans with Saint Lucians in the diaspora.” Additional scheduled Hall meetings include New York, November 8 and Houston, November 9.

The missing link

The schedules of Prime Minister Pierre and Opposition leader Chastanet in Saint Lucia and North America are of utmost importance.

The Saint Lucia Labour Party (SLP) and the United Workers Party (UWP) have completed the launch of their 17 candidates. Election paraphernalia and meetings engulfed the country. Both parties have encouraged voters to check the voter’s list and to make sure their name is on the voter’s list. Check it twice, before the missing link – the writ of general elections.

The Saint Lucia Labour Party (SLP) has scheduled a national meeting on Sunday, at the Castries Market Steps – the premier political meeting place of the SLP. The people of Saint Lucia, political analysts and observers anticipate Prime Minister Pierre to formally announce the general election to be held in December 2025.

The United Workers Party (UWP) is yet to populate the William Peter Boulevard. However, the UWP has scheduled a public meeting on Sunday at the Anse la Raye Waterfront to “talk solutions.”

Last week the UWP officially unveiled its groundbreaking 7-Point “Youth SOS Plan” to provide grant support up to XCD 25K; Introduce a national academy; appoint youth to all constituency councils and statutory boards; increase resources to the national youth council; introduce a dedicated Dennery Segment competition: Introduce a mortgage guarantee programme, and appoint youth ambassadors in sports, entertainment and business.

The UWP anticipates these are “decisive, solutions-driven agenda to empower Saint Lucia’s young people with transformative opportunities, stronger representation and a genuine voice in shaping their country’s future.”

Previous the UWP tabled a SOS-7 that includes: ● Remove the 2.5% levy ● Reduce gas prices within 30 days ● Introduce National Health Insurance Coverage for all (75,000 coverage) ● Introduce free tertiary education at SALCC● Pay pension to banana farmers who did not pay NIC ● Remove the Dam Dredging fee for residents of the south ● Reintroduction of Border Control and Expansion of the K-9 unit.

The political countdown

The political battle lines are drawn. The countdown to Saint Lucia’s 11th general election is ongoing ( pending Sunday’s activity on the market steps, election day on a Monday in 2025). Comparisons of political philosophy, leadership style and political records are up for scrutiny in the public domain.

According to opposition leader Chastanet:

“I’ve been fortunate to live a good life, one filled with lessons, opportunities and blessings I’ll always be grateful for. But my dream for you is that your life be even better. That you go further, achieve more and experience a country and world more just, more compassionate and more full of promise than the one I inherited.”

Prime Minister Pierre continues his focus on a ‘people-centred’ strategy, to move the ‘country forward’, stating:

“I am grateful for the progress we have made together; built on service, stability, and a commitment to putting the people of Saint Lucia first. Every achievement reminds me that leadership is about trust, compassion, and delivery.

“I look forward to the presentation of Our Record of Delivery this Sunday at the Castries Market Steps, where I will share the results of my government’s collective effort as the foundation which will move our country forward.”

CNG Insight

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Pierre and Opposition leader Chastanet look forward to engaging directly with the Saint Lucian community in the diaspora and their participation in these meaningful exchanges – a more practical and policy approach to persuade the diaspora to participate as partners and investors in Saint Lucia.

The diaspora needs equal access as provided to Foreign Direct Investors (FDI) in the social and economic development of Saint Lucia.
