The ceremony took place on 19 October 2023 at the Office of the President in Maputo, Mozambique.

In a tête-à-tête after the ceremony, Ambassador Baja and President Nyusi expressed the desire of both countries to deepen relations. Both officials agreed that the establishment of a bilateral consultation mechanism would provide the impetus for strengthening relations. They noted that cooperation in areas such as agriculture, culture, education, skills training and tourism, as well as exchange of official visits would move bilateral relations forward.

President Nyusi also underscored the common interest between Mozambique and the Philippines on building resilience to natural disasters and climate change, taking into account that both countries experience regular occurrences of cyclones, rains and destructive storms.

A total of four (4) Ambassadors presented their credentials to the Mozambican head of state, of whom two (2) are non-resident based in Pretoria, South Africa.

Philippine Honorary Consul Donald Ramos Tulcidas and Attaché Chynna Abaigar accompanied the Ambassador during the ceremony.

The Philippines and Mozambique established diplomatic relations on 27 March 1997.
