Pepe Coin (PEPE) had an explosive debut in April 2023. Upon launch, the token’s price skyrocketed by almost 7000%, leaving every major project in the dust. The meme coin’s price peaked on May 5, reaching an all-time high of $0.00000431. The asset is currently down by 71.64% from its May high.

However, according to some analysts, the frog coin might still have a few tricks up its sleeve. According to analysts at PricePrediction, PEPE could reach a high of $0.00000302 by 2025. This represents a growth of about 147% from its current value.

On the other hand, the analysts at Wallet Investor are a little more optimistic about the memecoin. They predict that PEPE could reach a high of $0.0000273 by 2025. This translated to a growth of 2137.7 % from current levels.

However, there are several factors to consider if PEPE is to rally by such figures. The frog coin’s dog rivals, Shiba Inu (SHIB) and Dogecoin (DOGE) are only two meme projects bigger than PEPE, and they might get in the way of its growth.

Comparing Pepe to Shiba Inu and Dogecoin

Dogecoin is the first memecoin and hence has the advantage of being early. DOGE has a lot of adoption and acceptance. Even proponents like Elon Musk’s Tesla accept DOGE as a form of payment for their merchandise. There are even rumors that Musk’s X platform will utilize DOGE in its upcoming payment feature.

Shiba Inu on the other hand, is going through a developmental overhaul. The project is on the verge of launching its very own blockchain. This will bring a lot more real-world use cases to SHIB. The token will also cease to be an ERC-20 token on the Ethereum blockchain. Furthermore, SHIB, like DOGE, has a lot of adoption and acceptance. BitPay recently announced that SHIB is included in its “Bill Pay” feature which allows US users to use SHIB to pay bills.

PEPE is completely overshadowed in fundamental aspects. It does not have much adoption, nor is it accepted in many places as a form of payment. The memecoin also faced a lot of liquidity issues of late.

However, that does not mean that PEPE cannot develop on its fundamentals. DOGE and SHIB did not start as they are now but have grown over time. PEPE too could grow and bring more real-world use cases to increase adoption and acceptance. But, such initiatives have not begun as of yet.
