Pakistan Navy Ship (PNS) MOAWIN recently made its maiden visit to Comoros, marking a significant step in fostering bilateral cooperation and goodwill between the two nations. Upon arrival at Port Mutsamudu on Anjouan Island, the ship was warmly received by the Commander of the Comorian Coast Guard, along with other senior military and government officials.

During its stay at the port, the Commanding Officer of PNS MOAWIN met with several key figures, including the Governor of Anjouan, Dr. Zaidou Youssouf, Deputy Chief of the Army Staff Colonel S.B. Dailami, and other civil and military leaders of Comoros. These meetings focused on discussing matters of mutual interest and exploring opportunities for enhanced bilateral cooperation. The Commanding Officer also conveyed warm greetings from Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf to the Comorian authorities, expressing gratitude for their support extended to the visiting ship. Additionally, shipboard exercises and operational discussions were conducted to enhance interoperability between the naval forces.

Free Medical Camp

One of the highlights of the visit was the establishment of a free medical camp by PNS MOAWIN. Pakistan Navy surgeons and medical specialists provided much-needed medical consultations, treatments, and medicines to the local populace. The medical camp was widely appreciated by the residents, who benefited from the high-quality medical care provided.

The initiative underscores the humanitarian and cooperative aspects of naval diplomacy, showcasing Pakistan Navy’s commitment to supporting communities in need and strengthening ties with partner nations.

Strengthening Bilateral Relations

The visit of PNS MOAWIN to Comoros is a testament to the growing relationship between Pakistan and Comoros. By engaging in discussions on various operational matters and conducting shipboard exercises, both navies aimed to enhance their capabilities and readiness. The interactions between the naval officers and local authorities highlighted the shared commitment to peace, security, and cooperation.

Future Prospects

The successful visit of PNS MOAWIN sets the stage for future engagements and collaborations between Pakistan and Comoros. With a focus on mutual interests and shared goals, both nations can look forward to continued partnership in various fields, including defense, health, and community support.

The visit of PNS MOAWIN is a significant milestone in Pakistan’s efforts to strengthen its maritime diplomacy and foster positive relations with countries across the globe. As part of this efforts, on November 5, 2024, the Pakistan Navy Ship ZULFIQUAR made a port call at Port Djibouti during its deployment on a Regional Maritime Security Patrol. The arrival of the ship was warmly welcomed by officials from the Djibouti Navy.

The Commanding Officer of PNS ZULFIQUAR engaged in discussions with senior military leaders of Djibouti to explore further avenues for collaboration. These Navy-to-Navy engagements between Pakistan and Djibouti have been instrumental in cementing the diplomatic relations between the two brotherly countries.

Earlier in August, Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar Sidhu, Chief of Air Staff of the Pakistan Air Force (PAF), embarked on a six-day visit to South Africa.
