Oyo State Government To Demolish Illegal Structures On Government-Owned Land In Akanran

The Oyo State Government has announced its intention to commence the demolition of illegal properties and structures on government-owned land in Akanran, Ona-Ara Local Government Area.

The Commissioner for Lands, Housing, and Urban Development, Mr. Williams Akin-Funmilayo, issued a warning to encroachers, urging them to vacate the government’s land immediately.

It has come to the attention of the Ministry of Lands that numerous individuals in the state have encroached upon government-owned land, disrupting the state’s master plan Akin-Funmilayo emphasized the commitment of the Omituntun 2.0 agenda to transform Oyo State into a better place to live.

He revealed that the government’s properties on the illegally occupied land in Akanran were designated for the State Games Village. This decision to demolish illegal structures marks the long-awaited realization of the proposed game village project, which had been in development for 25 years.

Akin-Funmilayo pointed out that many occupants and developers claiming ownership of the land possessed counterfeit documents. He warned that those who refused to vacate the government’s land within the stipulated period would face forceful eviction through legal means.

Residents of the state were encouraged to visit the Ministry of Lands, Housing, and Urban Development for inquiries regarding land issues before making land purchases.

In another development, the Oyo State Government pledged to collaborate with the Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC) to expedite the completion of the Ibadan Inland Dry Port project.

The Commissioner for Trades, Investment, Industry, and Cooperatives, Hon. Ademola Ojo, conveyed this commitment during a meeting with the NSC’s Southwest Zone management, led by Mr. Moses Fadipe, at the Secretariat in Ibadan.

The commissioner assured the council that the ministry would actively address any potential obstacles to the project and provide maximum support for its completion. He emphasized that the completion of the Ibadan Inland Dry Port was crucial to the state’s economy and the current administration’s objectives.
